The Privacy and Data Security online courses are completed using the myU portal and WebVISTA, the University of Minnesota's course management software.
If you are having trouble logging in to the myU portal, call the Technology Helpline at 1-HELP (612-301-4357) and choose the password option.
If you are having trouble while taking a course, visit the WebVISTA Support site.
Alternative formats for training materials are available. Please contact the Health Information Privacy and Security Office at email@example.com or 612-624-7447 to obtain materials in an alternate format.
- Go to the myU portal. Log in with your Internet ID and password.
- Select the my WORKLIFE tab or my ACADEMIC & CAREER tab at the top of the page.
Available courses will be listed under the U of M Privacy and Security Training heading.
Note: Although many individuals have a combined work/school affiliation with the University, only one of the tabs will be found at the top of the page.
- Select the training course that you need to complete.
A new window will open. You can begin the course.
- Complete the course.
- Close the window.
You can proceed with the next course or, if you are finished, you can log out of the myU portal.
Please remember to log out of the myU portal when you are finished. If you leave the computer while you are logged in, others could use your log-in to access your private data, such as HR information.
You will receive an e-mail confirming your completion of the course by the following day. Print out the confirmation for your records. Your completion of training courses will be tracked electronically.
